The Journey Of Été

Nostalgia from Parisian summer kisses and Indian master craftsmanship team up in Nikita Taneja’s label Été, to break every shackle of fashion and make western contemporary womenswear the warcry in a riot for change. Été’s purpose is clear- for every woman to feel the sparkle she brings in every breath, when released from the notions of beauty standards informed by a male gaze.
Été was created in response to the designer witnessing Fat shaming and skinny-shaming for being anything but sample size; an existence determined by navigating around well meaning but often cruel advice. As a fashion designer who graduated from NIFT Delhi and worked in India’s most respected luxury brands, everywhere Nikita turned it was clear that clothes were made, and it was women who had to squeeze, tuck and contour themselves to fit themselves in.
With Été, Nikita reimagines fashion for the 21st century Indian woman, creating clothes for who she is and what she looks like – making the Indian body type the core of the brand.
Été is a celebration of colour and diversity, drawing from the essence of summer holidays in Paris admiring confident, carefree women walking down the street in chic clothing that encouraged their purpose.
Nikita Taneja’s Été, an interactive label, was born to help women rediscover love for their bodies, and for that luxury to be accessible to the majority.
The Collection
Été presents 15 unique silhouettes across summer dresses, wrap dresses, jumpsuits in fabrics that lend grace and flow. Luxuriously buttery satin and breathable organza are finished with details in intricate lace. Statement sleeves, neck ties, and other delicate finishes create magic around these pieces designed to elevate the everyday. In a pallet that draws from the self assuredness of nature, the collection comes to life in the silvery blue of butterfly wings and azure coasts, greens from emeralds to sage, and a sunrise pallet of scarlet, blush and amber.
This collection began as an exploration of the Indian female form in glorious diversity spread across 900 patterns, the final collection is honed from what is easy, elegant, and empowering across body types, a breezy reminder that clothes are made to celebrate bodies, not the other way around.

The Designer
Nikita Taneja grew up around strong and independent women. After graduating from NIFT Delhi she spent time mastering her craft working with India’s leading luxury wear label Gauri & Nainika. During the 2020 lockdown Nikita brought together a team of patternmakers and master tailors to begin working on her brand of inclusive and affordable Western luxury wear- Été. Launched in 2021, the brand is leading the conversation in inclusivity and body positivity.
As a woman entrepreneur Nikita aims to lead the dialogue about clothes celebrating bodies and not the other way round.
